Camp Fatima Weekend

Brothers all,

We've had a couple of very busy weekends. I'd like to take the time here to thanks everyone for the effort put into these latest activities. Your hard work has not gone unnoticed believe me.

Over the last weekend we placed 85 Knights and family members at Camp Fatima in an effort to get work done that will help the camp get open on time. We cleaned, painted and rebuilt, rewired and made multiple improvements. We cleaned up brush and removed trees and worked our tails off. While we were there we made a donation of $4670 for Exceptional Citizen's Week. These funds were the result of the Tootsie Roll campaign and were voted at the 2013 Annual Convention. Thanks to everyone who drove to Center Barnstead to help the cause.

While we were working at the Camp we held a training session for our Financial Secretaries and Faithful Comptrollers at Bishop Guertin High School in Nashua. Special thanks to our own Hector St. Jacques for organizing this session on short notice and to our trainer, Brother Rod Hofschulte who flew in for the event from the midwest. I'm told that the training was well worth the time and effort. We'll try to organize another session in the mid-state area in the fall.

Fraternally,

Joel Plante

Mother's Day Message

Brothers all,
Today we celebrate Mother's Day.  I hope that no one forgot.  Mothers are the source of life in our families just as Mary, our Blessed Mother, is the source of life for us in our world.  Please make sure that you recognize your MOM today.
I also wish to convey a few words of thanks to those who have been so busy during the past several days with the many issues that we've faced this week.
First, thanks to all of you who participated in any way in the memorial mass for Francis and Lillian Dulac held on Thursday.  Francis and Lillian were indeed true Catholics and forever members of the K of C Family.  RIP
Thanks also to those who participated in the wake and funeral for Past State Deputy Edwin Bourassa on Friday and Saturday.  Ed was a Knight's Knight in my opinion and as such he deserved a great send off by his Brother Knights.  RIP
Finally, thanks to everyone who participated in the final vows ceremony for Sister Miriam at the Carmelite Monastery in Concord.  Lots of planning and hard work went into preparing for that event.  Our ladies especially worked hard at making that experience a memorable one for Sister Miriam.
See you in Church.
Fraternally,
Joel Plante

Food for Families Reimbursement Program

Worthy District Deputies and brothers all,

The Knights of Columbus Food for Families Reimbursement Program is off to a great start, but with one in six people in the United States and Canada going to bed hungry every night, the fight against hunger is never ending. With the help of Knights collecting food or donating money, every council can make a difference in their community.

The Supreme Council now offers an incentive program that encourages local councils to provide outreach to parish food pantries, community food banks and soup kitchens. For every $500 or 500 pounds of food that a council donates, the Supreme Council will refund them $100, with an opportunity to earn up to $500 in rebates per fraternal year. Councils received information on this program in October and will receive another promotional mailing in the next couple of weeks.

Councils should report Food for Families outreach using the Food for Families Reimbursement Program Refund and Plaque Application, which includes space to report financial support (for which documentation must be provided), and for personnel of the organization receiving donations of food to acknowledge receipt of the food. A copy of the form is attached to this email, and it can be accessed at kofc.org/forms. In addition to the rebate, councils will also receive a plaque for display in their council meeting place, which will contain space for the addition of engraved plates indicating the years the council participated in the Food for Families Reimbursement Program. Please direct any questions regarding the Food for Families Reimbursement Program to Jason Porrello at 203-752-4571 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Don’t let people in your community go hungry. Talk to the councils in your jurisdiction about supporting their local food bank or food pantry. Remember, every contribution helps in the fight against hunger.

Boston Marathon Tragedy

Brothers all,

I'm sure that we all stand in solidarity with our Bishops and Priests and the entire Knights of Columbus community as we deplore the violence commited against innocent bystanders and the runners participating in the Boston Marathon yesterday.  News reports indicate that there are 3 dead and up to 150 injured with 15 of the injuries being classified as serious.  I'm asking you all to join with the members of the Order world-wide as we pray for the families so negatively impacted by this violence.  Please keep these families and those who bravely responded to help them in your prayers.

Fraternally,

Joel Plante
State Deputy

2013 State Convention Invite

Brothers all,

Our 114th Convention will soon be upon us.  I hope that you have registered your delegates and wives for the meals packet and that you have reserved your room at the Radisson in Nashua.      You can check out all the details at the website www.nhknights.org and take a look at the convention package.  Everything that you need is there so check it out and then make the calls needed.

While we are conducting the business of the State Council on Saturday afternoon the ladies will be meeting for some fun and games there in the hotel.  The ladies have contracted with Dan Meehan and JD’s Sweet Tooth Bakery for some cupcake decorating lessons.  Everyone in attendance will have the opportunity to decorate their own cupcake.

The ladies will be collecting non-perishable food items for the food pantry at Assumption Parish in Dover so we ask that everyone who can please bring along a couple of food items.  The ladies will also be collecting personal items for the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary in Manchester.  The suggested items are shampoo, soap, shaving supplies, dental care supplies, facial tissue or perhaps some cleaning supplies such as dish drops, tub scrubbing materials, floor cleaners and such.  These items will be delivered at a date in the near future to the sisters.

Thanks so much for considering all these donations.  Please pass this information along to your delegates and their wives.  If we all work together we can make this an outstanding convention.  Charity works best when it comes from the heart.

Vivat Jesus!!!

Joel & Vicki Plante
