RE: Brief Update on Senate ESC Debate

On April 4, Cardinal Justin Rigali, Chairman of the Bishops’ Committee for Pro-Life Activities, sent a letter to the U.S. Senate urging opposition to S. 5. The letter can be found online at: nchla.org/datasource/idocuments/s5letter.pdf.

According to the unanimous consent agreement, the Senate will be voting on S. 5 and S. 30. Votes are still expected April 11. Senators may choose to support S. 30. However, as stated in NCHLA’s 3/20 Action Alert, the message should focus on urging Senators to oppose S. 5. This is the bill that promotes the destruction of human embryos and would be subject to a presidential veto.

Thank you for your work on this important issue.
