Goal of State Awards Evaluation Process:

·         To deliver fair and impartial evaluations for all Award Recognition submissions.

·    To provide a clear and easy to understand evaluation process that can be communicated to all councils in the State.

Objectives of State Awards Program:

This year’s Award Recognition program was designed to accomplish the following objectives:

Ø   To instill pride in council members of their Council’s Accomplishments

Ø   To motivate councils to deliver new and continued service to their Church and Community

Ø   To increase Involvement, Service and Activity in local councils

Ø   To be more inclusive in our Recognition

Ø  To Recognize high levels of service activity and renewed activity in previously inactive councils as well as outstanding individual service projects

Ø   To recognize additional individual contributors of local councils and those providing service to our State Council

Service Area Award

Objective or Purpose:

To recognize the best  Council Activity in each of the 5 service areas (Church, Community, Council, Family and Youth).

Selection Criteria: Each submission will be rated on the following three criteria:

·         Projects will be judged with the following criteria in mind:

·         Level of Service Delivered by the Project

·         Level of Involvement generated by the Project

·         Level of Council Activity generated by the project

Knight of the Year Award

Objective or Purpose:

To recognize a local Council Knight for his extraordinary service to Church and Community.

Selection Criteria: Each submission will be rated on the following three criteria:

·         Submissions will be judged with the following criteria in mind:

·         Level of Service Delivered by the Knight

·         Level of Involvement demonstrated by the Knight (His range of involvement in Council activities)

·         What makes this Knight stand out from all other submissions?

This year the Knight of Year will be chosen by the State Deputy and State Council Director based on submissions from local Councils. All Grand Knights are asked to either submit their 2006-2007 fraternal year Council Knight of the Year or an outstanding Council Knight for the Calendar Year of 2007. Open and save the form below, then either fill it out and submit it to the State Council Director by pressing the Submit button on the form or print out a copy and mail it to Joe Kowalik, before March 15th.

Family of the Year Award

Objective or Purpose:

To recognize a local Council Family for their extraordinary demonstration of Service to their Church and Community.

Selection Criteria: Each submission will be rated on the following three criteria:

·         Submissions will be judged with the following criteria in mind:

·         Level of Service Delivered by the Family

·         Level of Involvement demonstrated by the Family (Involvement by all family members)

·         What makes this Family stand out from all other submissions?

This year the Family of Year will be chosen by the State Deputy and State Family Director based on submissions from local Councils. All Grand Knights are asked to either submit their 2006-2007 fraternal year Council Family of the Year or an outstanding Council Family for the Calendar Year of 2007. Open and save the form below, then either fill it out and submit it to the State Family Director by pressing the Submit button on the form or print out a copy and mail it to Matt Ruger before March 15th.

Proud Council Award

All active councils in the state will be eligible for Proud Council designation by completing a required level of activity and involvement (see below). It is believed that all requirements for this award are obtainable by any active council whether existing or recently formed. The purpose of this award would be to recognize councils in the state for their high level of service, activity and Involvement. Where existing District Deputies are assigned, they will be asked to determine which councils in their District qualify for Proud Council. In the case of a council without an assigned District Deputy, the State Deputy or State Secretary will be asked to make the necessary determination.

  Selection Criteria:

Council has shown a high degree of involvement in all aspects of Council Activity. 

CRITERIA

 

q      Publish a Council Newsletter

q      Utilize a Council Calling Tree for council member notification

q      Have Conducted a Tootsie Roll Drive (2006-2007 Fraternal Year)

q      Have an active 1st Degree Team, or have hosted First degrees exemplifications.

q      Utilize the Knight in Shiny Armor Award Program with all new members

q      All Officer positions filled

q      All Service Director positions filled

q      Have recruited at least one new members this year

q      Have qualified for the Columbian Award or have submitted Service Forms for the 2007 - 2008 Service Awards Competition

Mustard Seed Award

Objective or Purpose:

To recognize a Council Activity that can be easily re-used by other councils in the State

 Selection Criteria: Each submission will be rated on the following three criteria:

1.       What is the potential of the Activity for Council member involvement?

2.       What is the potential that other councils could easily repeat this program?

50%

3.       To what extent does the documentation provided explain how the event/activity is conducted?

 All Service Forms submitted will be eligible for the both Service Awards and Mustard Seed. The Awards Selection Committee will be responsible for identifying projects from those submitted that should be considered for the Mustard Seed Award.

Outstanding Council Lady Award

Targeted Recipient: Female member from a local Council Family

 Objective or Purpose: To Recognize 5 Outstanding Ladies for their service to their local Council Family.

To increase our focus on the contribution that wives and family members provide to our local councils

 Selection Criteria: Grand Knights in concert with their council’s wishes can recommend a Lady of their council for this recognition. Submissions will be judged solely of the basis of Level of Service delivered to the local council’s events, activities and programs. Grand Knights of Councils selected will be contacted to invite their Outstanding Council Lady to the State Convention to be present to receive this recognition.

Grand Knights should submit a write-up on their Council's selected Lady explaining her service and assistance to the Council.

Council Newsletter Award

Targeted Recipient: All Councils in the State that publish a monthly council newsletter 

Objective or Purpose: To recognize outstanding council newsletters and to encourage more councils to adopt similar communication vehicles.

Selection Criteria: Newsletters received for award consideration will be judged using the following criteria.

            5 points for each item the newsletter contains
